A MAN suffered a serious injury to his jaw after being punched to the ground in Thirsk.

Police in the North Yorkshire town are appealing for witnesses and information after the attack in Thirsk Market Place in the early hours of Sunday.

It happened between 1.45am and 1.50am and involved two men outside the Arabica café in the market place.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was punched once to his face causing him to fall to the ground, resulting in him sustaining a serious injury to his jaw.

Officers are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, officers are appealing for information about the identity of those involved.

Anyone who was out in Thirsk on Saturday night into Sunday morning and was either in the market place or any of the local pubs near Arabica, witnessed the incident, or has any information about those involved, is asked to contact the police.
