A SCOUT group is continuing its drive to raise funds for the renovation of its headquarters.

The 1st Thirsk Scout Group have had a busy couple of months, with members getting involved in a range of fundraising initiatives.

They recently manned a scout trailer on Thirsk market and have been packing bags at Sainsbury’s to raise money.

Supporter Helen Ryan said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who supported these events.

“Whilst the money raised will be put towards the renovation of our scout head quarters on Picks Lane, we were especially excited by the number of young people who showed interested in joining our group.”

Work has already started on renovating the scout HQ, with the first major job being repointing the front extension and replacing the toilets.

As the weather improves, members will also be developing the outside area, including creating an area for the children to learn about growing plants, as well as space for the more traditional aspects of scouting such as camping, outdoor cooking and games.

Ms Ryan said: “As a charity we are always grateful for any help from donating materials to manpower, so if you have a few hours to spare please do get in touch.”
