AN animal charity is trying to rehome a recovering husky dog who was rescued from a life of suffering.

Four-year-old Cinders was originally wandering in found in Ireland. She was an emaciated stray, weak and covered in dirt.

For five months she was looked after by another charity before making the journey to the Blue Cross in Thirsk to continue her recovery and rehabilitation.

Her behaviour led the team there to believe she had never lived in a home before and worked hard to help her adjust to life as a loved pet.

And although she has progressed in every way and is now ready to find a home of her own, she has so far been overlooked - and has been at the Blue Cross for almost 200 days

Animal behaviour co-ordinator Lyn Henderson said: “Cinders is a really cheeky character and is full of life, as well as confident and independent.

“We can see so much potential in her, she loves to be around people and loves to play. She still has a little way to go but owners prepared for a bit of hard work will get the benefits.”

Cinders is looking for owners with experience of her breed. She needs to be walked on a lead so would like a large secure garden or paddock in her new home to run off any excess energy.

She will need to be the only pet in the home as she doesn’t always feel comfortable around other dogs.
