CHARITIES Thirsk Community Care, The Clock and the Thirsk Minibus Association have been chosen by Co-op’s Thirsk store to receive money from its Local Community Fund initiative.
Until March, Co-op members can select their preferred charity and each time they buy Co-op branded products and services, one per cent of the spend will be donated.
The funding will boost the Thirsk Community Care’s supported shopping service, which matches volunteers to local individuals aged over 60 who need help getting to and from the shops, and assistance while they are there.
Ellen Cross, the charity’s chief officer, said: “This is a fantastic way for local shoppers to help support our vital community service.” For details about the fund and to register for Co-op membership, visit coop.co.uk/membership
