AWARD winning Alpaca breeder Jacki Barlow is throwing open her farm, to let people get up close and personal with her beloved animals.

The former librarian currently has 53, with 15 babies due over the summer, and admits she could do with selling some off to make more room, but only if they go to a good home.

The Open Day is at Suncliffe Beacon farm, Husthwaite, near Thirsk, on April 23 when visitors can also have a chance to walk with the Alpacas.

“They are such fabulous animals, I would warn people that once they get up close and start really studying them, they will find it difficult to walk away. I love working with them, they have become my life.

She has them sheared in May when the weather warms up and uses the wool to make socks and scarves to supplement the farm income. The open day is from 10am to 3pm.
