MUSIC festival organisers have revealed headline acts for a two-day town centre extravaganza and another billed as the North of England’s flagship family event.

Topping the bill at the seventh running of the Deer Shed Festival, at Baldersby Park, near Thirsk, from July 22 to 24 will be Beth Orton and Mercury Prize nominees Everything Everything, in a line-up which also includes C Duncan, Money, and Field Music.

Alongside a range of family-oriented science and arts activities and shows, other music acts will include folk singer Sam Lee. Kate Stables’ This Is The Kit, pop pioneers White, singer-songwriter Dan Mangan, Welsh and Cornish speaking dancer and singer Gwenno, punk-pop singer Misty Miller and Ex-Racehorses frontman Meilyr Jones.

The Sherlocks and The Spitfires will headline at the inaugural Fleecetonbury Festival in Northallerton on March 26 and 27.

Organisers Nev and Michelle Craggs said at least 16 bands would be performing at the Town Hall and the Fleece Inn.

Mr Craggs said: “We have always enjoyed putting on live music in our pubs and last year, we took it to the next level with using the town hall as well as bands playing in The Fleece.

"Those gigs were such a success that the bands all wanted to come back so we’ve ended up organising what we hope will be an annual festival.”

Tickets for Fleecetonbury cost £17.50 each day or £30 for both days, while Deer Shed adult weekend tickets cost from £125. For tickets, visit seetickets.com or deershedfestival.com
