A CHARITY which provides home-based hospice care has received a generous offer which will help keep it on the road.
Herriot Hospice Homecare vehicles cover hundreds of miles as they travel to homes to provide care for people with life-limiting illnesses in the Hambleton and Richmondshire area.
Now tyre manufacturer Hankook and Kwik Fit have offered the charity support by replacing, free of charge, all of its tyres over the next three years. Kwik Fit will also service and carry out MOTs on all the vehicles.
It comes as a major boost for the charity which is now almost wholly reliant on raising its own funds to provide its services in Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Deborah Horton, retail area manager for Herriot Hospice Homecare, said: “Given the size of our operating area, our vehicles cover a lot of miles each year so to not have to worry about paying for servicing, MOTs and replacing tyres is a major bonus for us.
“The money we will save via this partnership will all be redirected to the provision of our front-line services and in particular helping those people who require end of life care in their own homes.”
