A FARM worker has died after a tractor overturned on a rural lane overlooked by the North York Moors.

North Yorkshire Police said the man, who has not been named, died at the scene of the crash, on the undulating Felixkirk to Kirby Knowle road, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

Emergency service were alerted at around 10.15am today (Friday, March 13) after the vehicle, which was carrying hay bales, tipped over in the road.

Fire crews from Northallerton, Ripon and Thirsk attended the scene and found the driver trapped in the vehicle.

Police closed the road for several hours as investigators examined the scene.

Anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident should call police on 101.
