A CROWDFUNDING page has been set up to help a teenage boy, reportedly left in a coma after he was assaulted at a party.

The 15-year-old, from Stokesley, was attacked at a private party in the village of Swainby near Stokesley on Friday, June 30.

Police say he suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition and is believed to be in a coma.

Now a JustGiving page has been set up in the boy’s name, with the aim of raising £1,000 to aid his recovery. Already it has received donations of more than £1,600, with 96 people donating to the fund.

The page states: “We're raising £1,000 to my friend (who) was seriously assaulted at a house party at an estate in Swainby and ended up in a coma on life support every £1 counts”

The teenager is a student at Stokesley School, where staff have put support in place for his friends and other pupils affected by what happened.

Earlier in the week, detectives appealed to anyone who had attended the party, or witnessed an altercation that evening involving young people aged approximately 14 to 15 years.

  • North Yorkshire Police say two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation while enquiries continue.
