A COOKERY roadshow in an ancient market town aims to encourage residents to cut down on food waste.
Ryedale District Council is running a Don’t be a Waster – Reduce, Reuse, Respect campaign with the help of North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council.
Community officers will have a stall at Malton Monthly Food Market on Saturday where they will be giving away Love Food, Hate Waste items including spaghetti measurers and rice scoops.
There will also be a roadshow and cookery demonstration at Pickering on Saturday, October 21, where chef Nigel Brown will be sharing his leftover recipes.
The North Yorkshire Rotters will be on hand to give information about reducing food waste and saving up to £60 per month, and advice about home composting will be available.
Councillor Luke Ives, chairman of the council's Policy and Resources Committee, said: “I hope lots of people come along to find out more about using up their leftovers.
“It’s in all our interests to be smart about our food waste.”
