Earlier a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police condemned the action calling it "irresponsible action" and "extremely dangerous".
"As a direct result, Habton Road is now closed, and this will cause significant disruption to the local community.
"Officers are at the scene assessing the situation, and diversions are being put in place," he said.
At 5.30pm, North Yorkshire Police added: "The woman who climbed on to a heavy goods vehicle at Kirby Misperton earlier today climbed down at about 5pm. She has been arrested. The road is now clear."
