A SPECIAL summer event is being held in Helmsley to raise money for the town’s Christmas Lights Fund.

Organised by the Helmsley in Business group, it will take place at the award-winning National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park on August 12.

Opening at 6pm and finishing at 10pm, the event will start with a display by some of the centre's favourite birds. The festivities will continue on with a barbecue, pay bar and a disco.

"Any money we raise will go towards the Christmas lights for the town, which we are trying to improve year-on-year," said Jacky Pickering, chair of Helmsley in Business,

Ticket include a free burger and a free drink. Available from Todds Newsagents, Crema Coffee, and Viva Hair, they cost £10 for an adult and £5 for a child, or £25 for a family of four.
