POLICE were all in a spin today after spotting a driver towing this load of washing machines and cookers along a busy main road – using a wreck of a convertible car as a makeshift trailer.
After stopping the truck, officers, who were working with officials from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, found the car being towed only had two bolts on the back wheels, which were loose.

It also had a series of other defects, in that it had no doors or boot lid.
North Yorkshire Roads Policing Group said the driver, who was stopped on the A64 at Rillington, near Malton, was reported for a licence offence.
