A MOTHER and daughter are preparing to climb Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Britain, to raise more funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Bridget Clark and her teenage daughter Grace, from Pickering, will do the climb on May 28 – and it is not the first arduous fundraising they have done for the charity.

Last year, the pair took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, completing a total of 24 miles and 1,524m of ascent in under 11 hours, raising £2,300.

Part of last year’s training included climbing Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales, and after the Yorkshire Three Peaks they went on to climb Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak.

And with two of the National Three Peaks already under their belt, they have decided to complete the triple challenge by reaching the summit of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland and the British Isles at 1,345m.
