NORTH Yorkshire Police and a market town community scheme have embraced a new Alzheimer’s Society campaign.

The campaign, ‘Unite against Dementia’, seeks to educate communities about the disease following a recent survey showing 41 per cent of adults in the region agree that dementia is the health condition they most fear developing.

The Camphill Village Trust’s Croft Community scheme in Malton and Ryedale PCSO Geoff Wynn have embraced the campaign and are forging new links with the Alzheimer’s Society to make the town more dementia-friendly.

Stuart Orrell of the Croft Community, said: “As dementia comes into more and more people’s lives, we all have a duty to find out more, and contribute more to being a community that cares.

"That’s why the Croft Community is very happy to be linking with The Alzheimer’s Society, as well as developing new provision within our own services.

“A united approach well help us at Camphill Village Trust improve what we can offer to the people we support, and our links in the wider community.”
