GREAT British Bake Off’s new judge, Prue Leith, is to join Reggae Reggae sauce star Levi Roots at a North Yorkshire food festival.

The respected restauranteur, cookery writer and television presenter will be at Malton Food Lovers Festival on May 27 and 28.

It was recently announced that Prue Leith will join Paul Hollywood in judging the Great British Bake Off, which will now be aired on Channel 4.

The cook made her debut in the culinary world when she opened a restaurant, Leith’s, which was awarded with a Michelin Star. She went on to open Leith’s School of Food and Wine in 1974 and has worked as a cookery correspondent for some of the UK’s largest regional newspapers, alongside writing several best-selling cookbooks.

Prue has also published several novels centred around cooking and will be giving visitors to the Malton Food Lovers Festival a preview of her new novel “The Prodigal Daughter”, hosting a book signing session and featuring on the panel for the NFU Question Time.

She said: “alton is a thriving town with food at its heart. Bursting with artisan food producers, distillers, brewers and independent shops, there’s no better place to celebrate good quality food and drink.”

Prue will be joining other celebrated names in the foodie industry including Levi Roots, who will be appearing at the chef’s cookery theatre on Saturday.

Levi Roots and his band will also be bringing their reggae tunes to the festival, as the main act at Malton’s Saturday night festival party.

Stephanie Moon, Jonathan Batchelor, former Great British Bake Off contestant Richard Burr and healthy food expert Hannah Sillitoe are also due to appear. Hannah has been a food columnist for the Daily Mail, Sunday Express, The Guardian and the Daily Mirror.

Tom Naylor-Leyland, festival organiser said: “We are honoured to be hosting one of the nation’s most esteemed foodies and welcoming the fabulous Prue Leith back to Malton for the second time.”
