A TALK on the Middleham Jewel is to offer a glimpse into the world of Richard III and 15th century North Yorkshire.

Dr Kate Giles, buildings archaeologist at the University of York, is guest speaker following Ryedale Family History Group’s annual meeting on Wednesday, July 20.

She will talk about the important and hugely valuable piece of jewellery unearthed by a metal detector in 1985, which is now on display at the Yorkshire Museum.

The meeting begins at 7.30pm at The Yard on Malton Market Place and is open to everyone. Refreshments will be available along with a raffle. Anyone living locally in the area who needs transport to this meeting or any future ones, can contact the office, who will try to arrange transport.
