A NORTH Yorkshire garden nursery has been awarded top honours at an annual ceremony for the second year running.

RV Roger Ltd, of Pickering, received the Stanley Lord Bowl from the Royal Horticultural Society for the best fruit exhibit shown at any society events in 2015.

It was only the third time in its history that the award has been made to the same exhibitor in consecutive years.

RV Roger Ltd was set up by Royston Valentine Roger in Pickering in 1913, and has since developed into one of the UK’s top fruit and roses growers sought out by experts and beginners alike.

Ian Roger, the founder’s grandson and current managing director said: “This is a highly-regarded award, which we are honoured and delighted to receive.

“It is a reflection on the outstanding dedication and skills of all our staff, in growing and preparing fruit to the very highest standard.”
