PEOPLE can hunt for giant eggs hidden amongst daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses in the grounds of a country home this Easter.

Castle Howard, between Malton and York in Ryedale, is gearing up for the spring celebration with traditional rides, games and face painters from Saturday, March 26 until Monday, March 28.

In the gardens, the Easter fairground will include a children’s train, chair-o-planes, swing boats and helter-skelter, while a big wheel will provide sweeping views of the house, gardens and estate.

The historic estate will also be running its traditional Easter egg hunt, with giant, decorated eggs dotted amongst early daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses.

Children can also meet Molly the Rabbit and the Lost Explorers, who will be getting up to mischief in the gardens.

The gardens open at 10am with the house open from 10.30am. Easter activities begin at 11am.

There will be a small additional charge for the big wheel and game stalls.
