A 14th Century manor house once owned by an ancestor of both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is set to showcase the results of a pioneering social enterprise.
Ampleforth Abbey and College and charity Autism Plus will stage a craft fair on Saturday (October 31) at Gilling Castle, the interior of which is rarely seen by the public.
Earlier this year Autism Plus launched Ampleforth Plus, a chocolate-making venture, in which chocolatiers are assisted by co-workers who have autism or associated learning difficulties.
As well as showcasing their range of handmade chocolates at the gift fair, Ampleforth Plus has also donated chocolates for the free goody bags which are available for the first 100 visitors.
The free-entry fair, from 10am to 4pm, will also see the launch of this year’s batch of Ampleforth Abbey Premium Cider.
