POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after an assault in an alleyway in Helmsley.
The incident involved a number of men in their 20s and took place behind Bridge Street at about 8pm on July 9.
The victim, a 28-year-old local man, suffered minor injuries and had some jewellery stolen during the incident.
Police are investigating and want the public’s help to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
And in particular they would like to track down a man who offered assistance to the victim at the scene.
A 25-year-old man from Helmsley has been arrested on suspicion of theft and has been bailed until August 18 pending further enquiries.
