A MAN in his 60s has suffered serious head and facial injuries in a hit-and-run accident. North Yorkshire Police said the collision happened in the early hours of Easter Sunday in Market Place East, Ripon when an old style BMW 3 Series hit a taxi which was parked in the taxi bay opposite Barclays Bank. The vehicle then hit a pedestrian who was stood near the taxi. The pedestrian, a man in his 60's fell to the ground suffering serious head and facial injuries.
The BMW did not stop after the crash. Police are appealing to residents and businesses in Ripon for assistance to trace the vehicle which they say will have significant damage to its front nearside wing and headlights. The pedestrian was taken to hospital, there have been no further updates on his condition.
