A GRAND cathedral will host The Great North Art Show 2017 which showcases contemporary work by professional northern artists.
Ripon Cathedral will house more than 350 artworks, ranging from printmaking and illustration to painting and sculptures.
The free event provides visitors with the opportunity to view and buy works from both emerging and established artists.
This year will showcase works by artist Tom Wood, whose paintings are held by HRH The Prince of Wales and The National Portrait Gallery Print Collection.
An independent panel of judges will award £1,000 to the best picture in show as well as the best artist and body of work.
The best print or etching in show will receive £750 and the best newcomer will pocket £250.
The event is open from September 2 until September 24, from 10am until 4.30pm daily.
