ONE of the region’s great seats of worship has been transformed into a gallery for some of the UK’s finest contemporary painters, sculptors, printmakers and photographers.
The Great North Art Show features 300 artworks by 50 of artists, all displayed in the magnificent setting of Ripon Cathedral.
It showcases the work of new talent alongside more established artists and the scale of the cathedral allows for a collection of work to be shown by each artist rather than simply an individual piece.
The 2016 Great North Art Show opened on Saturday, September 3, and runs until September 25. Entry to the cathedral and exhibition is free and all artworks are for sale.
