A VETERINARY practice has been evacuated after a staff member collapsed due to an anaesthetic gas leak.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Bishopton Vets, on Studley Road, Ripon shortly before noon today (Monday, June 20) following reports of a gas leak.
They said Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics administered oxygen to a woman, who had been operating on a dog, before taking her to hospital.
Firefighters from the city and Boroughbridge isolated the source of the leak to a room in the surgery before providing advice.
A fire service spokeswoman said: "It was all over very quickly once we had identified the source of the leak."
A spokeswoman for the surgery, which was founded more than 70 years ago and specialises in pets, horses and farmed livestock, said the affected staff member had made a good recovery.
