EASTER fun for all the family can be found in Ripon this weekend.

Newby Hall, near Ripon, opened its doors to the public on Good Friday but the activities get started on Easter Sunday and Monday with woodland story trails throughout the grounds, sponsored by Make a Wish Events and Welcome to Yorkshire.

Commercial director Stuart Gill said: “Newby’s Easter family days are hugely popular with our visitors and a great way to start off our opening season.

“It is wonderful to see the gardens fill up with the sights and sounds of children laughing, exploring and playing.”

Following the huge success of the Dollshouse Exhibition, from June onwards Gyles Brandreth’s Teddy Bear collection will be on display.

Ripon Workhouse Museum is celebrating the first bees of the season in its workhouse garden, and will be demonstrating why Victorians kept bees and how they used the honey and wax.

The bee and honey family activity days will run on weekdays during the Easter holidays, from Easter Monday to Friday, April 1, and Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 8.

Activities include making wax candles, mixing honey medicines, baking Victorian milk and honey bread, meeting the beekeeper and an Easter bee trail.

The Workhouse Museum also has story times on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
