A WOULD-BE handbag snatcher is being hunted after an attempted robbery in Ripon.
A 47-year-old woman was walking alone along Firby Lane at about 6.20pm yesterday (December 22) when she was approached by a man who tried to wrench her bag from her shoulder.
He grabbed the bag from behind but his victim resisted and the would-be thief ran off empty-handed.
He fled towards Park Street and was described 5ft 6ins tall and of slight build. He was wearing dark trousers and a dark baggy hooded top.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information is urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask to speak to PC William Brownbridge. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555111.
