ONE of the region’s biggest attractions is proving that family fun is still a big visitor draw.

Figures just released show that the numbers pouring into Lightwater Valley near Ripon jumped by 11 per cent last year.

And along with a nine per cent leap in revenue compared to the previous year the theme park is now looking forward to another bumper year.

General manager Mark Bainbridge said: “It was a really positive year for us with our Mr. Men, Fantastic Fireworks and Frightwater Valley events proving very popular.

“Last year we also held a Meet the Gruffalo event and we have plans this coming season for similar special ‘celebrity’ visits.”

He added: “We are investing £350,000 on replacing the existing crazy golf and a new vintage car rally ride as well as looking at other activities to build on last year’s success.”

Later this month the “Fab Feb Family Fun” half-term event returns with more than 20 attractions, the Angry Birds activity park and falconry centre all open for £5 entrance fee.

The half-term event runs from February 19 to 22 with the full park reopening for the Easter holiday period on March 28.
