A group of North Yorkshire Childminders and Early Years Professionals attended a day trip out on Friday 23rd March to the Early Excellence centre near Huddersfield.

The Childminders were able to explore the virtual setting and discuss areas of good practice. They also gained exciting new ideas to develop and enhance their own childminding settings. The Childminders were able to explore activities that link with the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage to augment the Learning and Development of the children in their care.

In the afternoon they visited Bombay Stores in Bradford, the largest Asian department store in Britain. They were able to purchase a wide range of resources to take back to their settings to inform children about diversity and the wealth of different cultures in Britain today.

The trip was followed up by training the following day on ‘Equality, Diversity and Identity’ by Katherine Finkill, where ideas were discussed on how to introduce multiculturalism into their settings in more depth, highlighting the importance of the divergent society in which we live today.
