Richmond's newly re-opened art gallery in Finkle Street is hosting a late night festive shopping evening from 6pm until 8pm on Friday 2nd December.

Previously known as the Finklegate Gallery, it has been taken over by mother and daughter team Lulu and Kelly Fidler, and re-branded as The Showcase Gallery.

As well as a wide variety of work on show, a new website has been set up giving comprehensive information about all the artists whose work is on display, together with the opportunity to purchase works on-line and subscribe to a newsletter to obtain latest updates.

The Showcase Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting new work from artists based in Yorkshire and the North East. They have taken great delight in sourcing and gathering together such an eclectic mix of work.

"The Showcase Gallery has been born out of our heartfelt belief that art need not be elitist. Our commission rates and selling prices are kept as low as possible – and we aim to support artists by enabling them to showcase quality work, as one-offs or limited editions, and offer national exposure to those who may otherwise only be seen in the north."

Vistors on the evening will be able to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies, and will be entertained by local jazz musician Dave Harris. Dave is a much sought after guitarist and composer who has written music for Theatre, Television and Film. As well as writing original music Dave also works as a session musician and has appeared on many albums, radio broadcasts and television shows. There is no need to book.

The Showcase Gallery in open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 5:30pm and 11:00am to 3:00pm on Sundays. Contact them on 01748 822400 or via their website www.theshowcasegallery.co.uk
