A PUB landlord has appealed for help to catch thieves who stole his wife’s jewellery in a daylight burglary.

The break-in at the Three Horseshoes, in Wensley, near Leyburn, North Yorkshire, took place on Monday between 12.30pm and 3.50pm.

The thieves broke into the living quarters of the pub, made an untidy search and left with several items of jewellery.

Landlord, David Hunt, said he and his wife, Rachel, were devastated by the burglary.

He said: “They stole a lot of my wife’s jewellery, including her grandparents’ wedding rings which she was keeping in trust.

“They also took her engagement ring which was my great grandfather’s.

“If anyone has any information I would urge them to pass it on to the police.”

North Yorkshire Police confirmed it was investigating the break-in.

A spokesman said: “This incident happened in broad daylight and it is likely that someone either walking past or driving by will have spotted something suspicious.”

Anyone with information should call North Yorkshire Police on 101, press option two and ask for PC Dave Cousins.

Alternatively, they can ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111, quoting reference 12120093900.
