A LEADING Polish naturalist and photographer will share his expertise with the Richmondshire and Hambleton RSPB Local Group.

Marek Borkowski is one of Poland’s leading field ornithologists and has an unsurpassed knowledge of the birds of the Biebrza marshes and has contributed to wildlife films in his homeland.

Mr Borkowski is particularly interested in the Great Snipe, which he has studied for over three decades, and he has purchased the site of one of the largest displaying areas (leks) to protect it from disturbance.

He also keeps a herd of Konic horses, an ancient breed, and uses them in the marsh to maintain the habitat.

Mr Borkowski will give his talk at 7.30pm on November 10 in Richmond Methodist Church Hall.

It is open to both RSPB members for £2 and non-members for £4.
