A NEW centre to accommodate young people in the racing industry is recommended for approval in Middleham.
Richmondshire District Council’s planning committee rejected an initial application in January but this has since been revised.
The plans, at Hill House and West Hill House, propose the building of ten bedsits, a gym, treatment room and social space.
Racing Welfare, a charity supporting the workforce of British horseracing, submitted the plans which would accommodate young racing apprentices who have moved to the area for work.
However, Middleham Town Council still have strong objections, stating that the gym and treatment rooms are “out of scale” and would result in an “unacceptable level of noise and disturbance”.
Councillors are due to meet on Tuesday to discuss the application.
