RARE early motorcycles are among the automotive gems up for auction in the region next weekend.

Excitement is mounting amongst motoring enthusiasts and collectors ahead of Tennants of Leyburn's Vintage Motor Vehicle and Automobilia sale on Sunday, July 16, which is set to include over 150 lots of vintage and modern cars, motorcycles and automobilia.

Leading the sale is a selection of good, early motorcycles, the earliest being a 1914 New Hudson model VI which could fetch up to £12,000.

Another rare motorcycle in the sale is a 1936 BSA model G14 V twin, with Busmar Cruiser Sidecar, which is also offered with an estimate of £9,000 to 12,000.

Also included is a 1927 Norton Model 18 500cc flat tank motorcycle – a good example from a manufacturer whose name is synonymous with serious road and race bikes.

This bike is offered with an estimate of £10,000 to £15,000.

Amongst the car highlights on offer is a superb example of a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I from 1957.

This car, which has remarkably low mileage for its age, reputedly appeared in a number of television programmes, including an episode of the Yorkshire-based drama ‘Heartbeat’ and could reach prices of up to £35,000.

Another icon of British automotive design, a 1962 Land Rover Series IIa Pick Up, is also included in the sale.

Over 100 lots of Automobilia such as petrol pump globes, enamel signs, mechanical equipment and a good selection of car mascots will be up for auction too.
