A POPULAR bus service that takes in some of the region's finest scenery and featured on television is back up and running thanks to fundraising efforts.

The Northern Dalesman bus 830 restarts for the summer season this weekend, running every Sunday and bank holiday until September 24.

The 75-mile route from Middlesbrough to Ingleton takes passengers from urban Teesside up Swaledale. The final stretch is from Hawes across the Dales past the 24-arch Ribblehead viaduct to the village of Ingleton.

The “Country Bus” is operated by Arriva North East on behalf of DalesBus, with financial support from Northern Powergrid and donors to a fundraising campaign by the Yorkshire Dales Society.

The bus leaves Middlesbrough Bus Station 9.15am, Stockton High Street at 9.27am and Darlington Town Hall at 9.55am every Sunday and bank holiday until the end of September 2017.

The unique service was featured in BBC4’s All Aboard! The Country Bus programme last year.
