ONE of Britain’s top drag queens is shimmying back to her roots in a rare show at Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal at the end of this month.

La Voix, who originates from Elm Tree, Stockton-on-Tees, rose to national stardom as a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2014 and a 2015 finalist in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. She also appeared in last year’s hit Absolutely Fabulous Movie and her act is a favourite with the Royal family, having performed at New Year parties hosted by Princes William and Harry.

La Voix’s Richmond date, on Friday, March 31, is the first time she has performed in the region and is the only English 2017 tour date north of Manchester.

“The intimacy of The Georgian Theatre Royal, where no seat is further than 10 metres from the stage, is perfect for this type of act,” said theatre manager Clare Allen. “La Voix is a vivacious and highly entertaining performer and her cabaret show – with live singing and music – is very classy, very glamorous and super stylish.

“As far as we know, this is a first for the theatre but we are sure that it will appeal to a wide range of people, from lovers of cabaret and high-energy, top-class entertainment, to those appreciating the avant-garde and wanting to try something a bit different,” she added.

The artist’s Red Hot Globe Trot tour promises an evening of fun and spontaneity that will focus on hilarious stories of La Voix’s travels across the globe. It will be set against a show-stopping backdrop of diva anthems celebrating the vocal styles of Tina Turner, Shirley Bassey, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland and Cher.

La Voix’s Red Hot Globe Trot is at the Georgian Theatre Royal on Friday, March 31 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from £11 to £21 and are available on 01748-825252 or www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk.
