TAKEAWAY: Fish and chips, still a favourite
A NEW study has revealed food hygiene standards at takeaways and sandwich shops in Richmondshire are among the highest in the country.
Out of 355 council areas in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Richmondshire had the fifth highest percentage of businesses with top marks, according to LoveMyVouchers.co.uk.
And when takeaways rated both good and very good were taken into consideration, Richmondshire came fourth, with North Devon ranked first.
Every business that serves food is awarded with a hygiene rating between zero and five under the rating scheme.
Of the 36 applicable shops in Richmondshire, 30 had the top rating, with the remainder scoring three or four. None scored two or less.
