A JACOBEAN country estate is hosting a Halloween event that is not for the faint-hearted will see guests searching for the ghosts, apparitions, witches and skeletons.

Kiplin Hall's Halloween Spooktacular invites brave visitors to walk in the woods to hunt for the Grey Lady of the Wood who is searching for her lover near the summerhouse by the pond, and look out for ghostly spectres by the pets graves. In the house, if you can get past the apparition on the doorstep, follow the Skeleton Trail to the top of the house to the Witches Lair. There is plenty more to do for younger visitors including dressing up, colouring, and designing pumpkins.

Kiplin Hall, between Scorton and Northallerton, Halloween Spooktacular, Saturday, October 22 to Wednesday, October 26. Gardens and tea room open at 10am, and the house opens at 11am. All close at 5pm.

Admission to gardens only is £5.90 for adults, £5 concession, and £3.20 for children. a family ticket is £17.70. House and gardens admission for adults is £8.65; concessions £7.80; children £4.50; and a family ticket is £23.60.
