AN AWARD-winning attraction in the Yorkshire Dales has been officially recognised for the high standard of its gardens.

Lurking in deepest Coverdale, Forbidden Corner in is one of the most unusual places in the country to visit. More than 100,000 people pass through its gates every year attracted by their unique collection of labyrinths, tunnels, and caverns, underworld creatures, a glass pyramid, passages that lead nowhere and extraordinary statues.

Yorkshire in Bloom is the regional body that represents the Britain in Bloom campaign organised by the Royal Horticultural Society and has recognised their efforts, awarding the Forbidden Corner a silver gilt award.

The four-acres of garden are tended single-handedly by Andy Thwaites who works to maintain them to a high standard.

Manager John Reeves said: “Andy works so hard and the gardens always look superb. I am so pleased that his efforts have been rewarded.

“With all the visitors we get it is quite difficult to keep them in pristine condition all the time. "
