ROYAL Air Force signallers based at RAF Leeming have honoured their departed colleagues with a service of remembrance at the National Memorial Aboretum.

Family, friends and colleagues of those serving at the base near Bedale stood in silence as the names of all personnel listed on 90 Signals Unit’s Memorial were read out and wreaths laid at a stone memorial.

The stone is one of more than 200 memorials in the United Kingdom’s year-round centre of remembrance in Staffordshire, and commemorates all those who died in the service of the unit.

The event provides the opportunity for families and colleagues of those who have died to meet, remember and reflect.

Group Captain David Rowland, Commanding Officer 90 Signals Unit, said: “ I am delighted and proud that a large number of past and present members of the Unit were able to join family members in the magnificent surroundings of the National Memorial Arboretum to remember those members of the 90SU family that have passed away.”
