RICHMOND Town Football Club are celebrating an outstanding season after winning ‘the treble’ for the first time in its history.
The under 13 squad completed their historic achievement by winning the Teesside Junior Football Alliance (TJFA) First Division, as well as claiming the County Cup and League Cup in their impressive campaign.
Steven Luck, team coach of the under 13’s, said: “This is an amazing achievement by an amazing bunch of lads.
“They have trained tirelessly twice weekly, whatever the weather. This hard work and commitment has led to two of the squad being invited to play for Sunderland Academy.”
The team scored 83 goals on their way to clinching the title, and their success was furthered by beating Boro Rangers 3-2 in the final of the County Cup and Nunthorpe Athletic 4-1 in the League Cup final.
Mr Luck added: “I’m so pleased for all the lads and their parents and extremely proud. This really is grass roots football at its very best.”
