A BANK teller who is accused of stealing more than £250,000 from customers’ accounts is to reappear at crown court in October for a plea and case management hearing.

Lesley Austin, 47, of Lockyer Close, Newton Aycliffe, is accused of stealing the cash between November 27, 2007 and August 20 last year.

The alleged victims all held accounts with NatWest’s Richmond branch, in North Yorkshire. None of the charges she faces, which include theft and false accounting, were put to the 47-year-old when she appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Friday (August 21).

Judge Tony Briggs renewed the defendant’s bail and set a date of October 30 for the next hearing.
