ORGANISERS of a concert commemorating the First World War centenary and the 70th anniversary of D-Day are appealing for military and forces organisations from across the North-East and North Yorkshire to parade their standards.

Richmond Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at Richmond School on Saturday, October 18 is in its third year and preparations are almost complete - apart from the number of military standards.

Royal British Legion chairman Bob White said: “This year’s festival will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War and the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

“These were two major events in British and world history that should never be forgotten and hopefully never repeated.

“The one thing that is still not, hopefully, complete is the number of military standards – We are asking all military and forces organisations, serving or associations, to parade their standard on the evening.”

Tickets for the event cost £7.50 and be available at the end of September.

All standards will be welcome: regimental, squadron or ship associations, navy, army and air cadets. For information contact Mr White on 01748-824313 or bob@white2237.fsnet.co.uk.
