RURAL life leaders in Ryedale have been warned that despite its idyllic scenery and picturesque towns and villages it could still be a target for terrorists.
Parish councilors attending the Malton Rural East Community and Police Group at West Heslerton were given a talk by Sandi Clark, of the Safer Ryedale Partnership.
“We have many isolated villages in Ryedale, but several major military establishments - RAF Staxton Wold, RAF Fylingdales and GCHQ on the outskirts of Scarborough,” she said.
She urged those attending meeting to look out for people trying to radicalise others, watching for changes in behaviour, symbolic tattoos and the way individuals speak and dress.
