A MOTORIST who allegedly led police on a lengthy chase across the North York Moors has been charged with dangerous driving.
North Yorkshire Police said after failing to stop for a rural taskforce patrol near Stokesley, a red Rover 25 hatchback was pursued along country lanes to Danby, late on Friday.
A team of officers dispatched to the village found the car abandoned before finding the driver nearby shortly afterwards.
He was arrested and also allegedly failed a roadside drug test.
A police spokesman said: "The driver has been interviewed and charged with various offences, including dangerous driving."
