STAFF at a family-run farm shop have been invited to attend an awards ceremony at Wembley Stadium, after being nominated for two accolades.

The Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café, on the A170 near Pickering has been chosen from hundreds of shortlisted entrants to be named regional finalist in the Red Ribbon Awards.

The family-run business is run by Mandy and Karl Avison and daughter Chloe, 21, who has also been nominated in the One to Watch category.

Chloe works as the café supervisor and in 2013 set up a pop-up vintage afternoon tea business at the café.

The Cedarbarn is currently expanding by installing a 600-metre miniature train track and pint-sized Victorian railway station, which is due to open in the first week of July.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for these two awards – particularly as they recognise the thing most precious to us: our family,” said Mandy.

The Red Ribbon Awards recognise independently-owned family businesses, with previous nominees including Michel Roux Jr at Le Gavroche and East End Foods.

Cedarbarn will represent Yorkshire at the ceremony at Wembley Stadium on July 15, when ten companies will be crowned winners.
