THE third annual Rosedale Walking Festival takes place on the North York Moors this weekend.
On June 13 and 14 walkers can take part in a variety of events, ranging from leisurely strolls to wildlife and history rambles or tougher hikes.
Spokesman Ian Thompson said: “We’re now into our third year, and the Rosedale Walking Festival is bringing more and more people to our beautiful dale.”
The festival dates back to 2012 when Rosedale Abbey became the first village in the national park to gain official Walkers are Welcome status following a challenging application process.
It involved demonstrating a real commitment to making visits from walkers as enjoyable as possible.
Places on the Walking Festival events range from £1 for the family walk to £12 for the teashop walk - which includes refreshments at the various tea rooms. However most cost £4. Children take part for free.
Walkers can turn up on the day, but numbers are limited. To book tickets in advance call 01751-417505 or email walkrosedale@outlook.com
