A MULTI-MILLION pound house described as one of the “finest country estates in northern England” has been put up for sale by a theme park chief executive.
With sweeping lawns, tree-lined boulevard, orchard and coach house, the historic country home comes with an eye-watering £4.5m price tag.
The eight-bedroomed Kingthorpe House has been put on the market by Flamingo Land Resort’s chief executive Gordon Gibb.
Set in 65 acres of parkland near Pickering, North Yorkshire, the listed 9,000 sq ft house has undergone a two-year restoration.
Kingthorpe’s heritage stretches back to a mention in the Doomsday Book of 1086 and the current country house was developed by the Fothergill family in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The house, which has six reception rooms, was also the home of Richard Rowntree and his family for three decades from 1966.
Kingthorpe House is for sale with property agent Croft Residential.
“This is one of the finest country estates in the north of England and the comprehensive renovation programme that has only just been a completed makes it certainly one of the most high tech large estates on the market,” said the agency’s Toby Cockcroft.
