THE re-opening of Hambleton Leisure Centre’s swimming pool has been delayed to enable further work to take place.
The centre’s pool and gym facilities are currently undergoing a radical overhaul and were initially set to reopen on November 24.
However, a council spokeswoman said that after listening to customer feedback, the authority has decided to undertake additional improvement work which will set back the pool’s reopening to December 11.
This additional work involves resurfacing the walkways surrounding the pool and the changing area.
In a message to pool users, Leanne Dunning, marketing manager, said: “We apologise for the interruption to your normal service as we know that our regular Hambleton Leisure Centre customers are keen to return to the pool, however we are sure that the extensive improvements will be worth your wait.
“Thank you for patience.”
The pool improvements are part of a wider £2.5m revamp of the leisure centre which will see new facilities added including a spinning studio and multi-purpose dance studio.
The work will also result in a new state-of-the-art fitness suite extension that more than doubles the current work-out space and includes a toning studio, accessible toilet and changing room and 24-hour gym access.
