A NEWLY consolidated North Yorkshire school is opening its doors to hundreds of prospective pupils and parents.

Northallerton School and Sixth Form College will hold its open evening on Tuesday October 3, 6pm – 8pm, for transitioning Year 6 primary pupils following the merger of its upper and lower school sites.

The school, which formerly housed students in Year 7 to 9 on its Brompton Road site, has now consolidated all students from Years 8 to 13 on its Grammar School Lane premises with the Year 7 students set to move up in September next year

Principal Chris Byrne said: “It has been an extremely positive start for us this term having the majority of our students together on one school site.

“Our vision was always to create a one through school in Northallerton, including our sixth form, to enable us to achieve the very best outcome for all our students.

“Being in one place enables us to better pool our resources, strengthen our teams, work more effectively and efficiently and improve what we do and what we provide.”

The open evening follows yet another successful year for GCSE and A-level results at the 1,100 pupil school which is rated as "Good" by Ofsted inspectors.

“I am extremely proud of our results which have improved once again this year, especially with the new government grading systems that have now been put in place,” added Mr Byrne.

“Northallerton School and Sixth Form College continues to grow and develop and I am very much looking forward to welcoming all of the new parents and pupils to our school.”
